Honor Locals with Blood Drives in Rockland This Week

On Thursday, Felix Festa Middle School will pay tribute to a student who passed away from leukemia. Friday, two Clarkstown officers will be honored.

The New York Blood Center is always looking for donors, but two drives being held in Rockland County this week offer a little more incentive for locals to participate.

Tomorrow, Nov. 7, Felix Festa Middle School (30 Parrott Rd. West Nyack) will be remembering former eighth grader Austin DeGiorgio, who, according to his legacy.com obituary, passed away on August 12 at age 14 after a long battle with leukemia.

The Felix Festa blood drive will be held from 3:45 to 8:15 p.m. in Cafeteria B-106 and will feature "Little Doctors," according to the New York Blood Center, who "will be wearing paper scrub sets while they volunteer."

On Friday, the Clarkstown Police Department will host a blood drive from 6"30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in memory of former officers and brothers  Terrance “Terry” McCrudden and Christopher “Chris” McCrudden.

Appointments for either blood drive can be made by calling 800-933-2566 or online at www.nybloodcenter.org. Walk-ins are also welcome.
