Make A Difference Rockland Crowds Tappan Zee Gym

Rockland County Legislator John Murphy (R-Pearl River) took on triple duty at Make a Difference Rockland, a community service fair that drew over 80 organizations to the Tappan Zee High School gymnasium Wednesday.

Murphy and his wife, Eileen, were set up at consecutive tables for Lourdes Kids of Rockland, Camp Venture and Homes for Heroes.

"I think it's incredible," Murphy said of the fair. "It's incredible because it has all the charities under one roof. It's like a supermarket of charities. They can come in and pick the one they like. It's great."

The Tappan Zee Leos organized the event with the sponsorship of the Blauvelt Lions Club. Tappan Zee High School students packed into the gym at the start, just as school let out, then a steady stream of people followed.

"We're looking for young volunteers," Murphy said. "To get them invested."

The Leos Club Officers/Make a Difference Committee included President Angela Nolan, Vice President Sydney Chang, Co-Secretaries Bailey Domenick and Caitlin Neier, Treasurer Rachel Kading, Tech. Dir. Patrick Flanagan, Tech. Dir. Rouhin Ghosh, Patricia Conklin, Louis Clement, Jessica Connoly, Chastity Morel, Zach Schmidt and faculty advisor Tricia Castelli.
