Post-Thanksgiving Bowl Held in Honor of Rockland Resident

Family members and friends of Brian Casey, a 1994 graduate of North Rockland High Schoolgathered faithfully the Friday after Thanksgiving to remember the football player who lost his battle with lymphoma more than a decade ago.

The 12th annual Brian Casey Bowl "was very successful once again this year," according to an email to Patch from Dean Markowitz, Casey's stepfather.

The event, he said, "grows larger and better-known as the years pass."

This year, about three dozen players braved the cold at North Rockland High School for a bit of fun. Proceeds from the event benefit Friends of Brian Casey, which in turn funds scholarships for NRHS seniors and charities related to lymphoma and other cancers.

"We, Brian's family, are very grateful for the hard work these folks put in to make it happen," said Markowitz.
