Pearl River Procession of Children Arrives at Braunsdorf Park Sunday

The ninth annual Procession of Children will bring the infant Jesus statue to the Creche in Pearl River's Braunsdorf Park 1 p.m. Sunday.

Lily, Owen and Shane Lennon will place the infant Jesus in the manger. They are the godchildren of Mark Lennon of Pearl River, who died in the boat crash on the Hudson River in July.

The names of Mark Lennon and Lindsey Stewart, who also died in the crash, will be embroidered into the receiving blanket by MaryAnn Shortell. Shortell began adding names of those Jesus statue is presented in memory of to the blanket in 2005.

The event will feature music by students from the Pearl River School of Irish Music. There will be Christmas cookies and hot chocolate available to all, as well as buttons that read "It's OK to say Merry Christmas to me."

Previous presenters of the baby Jesus are:

  • 2012 Lauren Scognamiglio
  • 2011 Ceili and Liam Fitzpatrick and Brian Coughlin
  • 2010 Erin, Kerry and Colleen Shortell
  • 2009 Jack and Lauren Sullivan and Breanna Cosgrove
