Bouton Memorial Golf Tournament Benefits Pearl River Rotary Scholarships

When the Rotary Club of Pearl River first created a permanent scholarship endowment, Ed Bouton challenged his fello Rotarians to make it work. He promised to match every contribution up to $50,000.

Club members matched that number and in the years since, the endowment has grown to over $1 million, providing 377 scholarship awards for Pearl River High School Students.

The club's golf tournament to benefit the Rotary Scholarship bears Bouton's name. The 19th annual Ed Bouton Golf Tournament was played Thursday at Blue Hill Golf Course in Pearl River.

It was the first time the tournament was played without Jeffrey Keahon, who chaired the golf outing until his death earlier this week.
