Golf Outing to Benefit Stewart, Lennon Memorial Fund

Emmett Woods has chosen various organizations to support with funds from his annual golf outing.

This year, the Lindsey Stewart and Mark Lennon Memorial Fund will benefit from the Mahoney's/Emmett's Castle 9th Annual Gofl Classic.

"I've always done a golf outing and picked a different charity," Woods said. "When I heard about the memorial fund, I figured I'd just give part of the profits to them."

The fund was created in the names of the two people who died when the speedboat they were riding in crashed into a construction barge on the Hudson River July 26, 2013. Lennon and Stewart's families are raising money to build a lighthouse in their memory.

The event is set for Oct. 4 at Blue Hill Golf Course in Pearl River, with lunch at Emmett's Castle at Blue Hill at 11:30 and the shotgun start on the course at 1 p.m.  Woods owns both Emmett's Castle and Mahoney's Irish Pub in Poughkeepsie and in recent years he had been donating the proceeds to the Rockland County Gaelic Athletic Association, which Lennon's family belongs to. He said he will split this year's proceeds between the GAA and Lindsey Stewart and Mark Lennon Memorial. Fund.
