The Homes for Heroes tag sale Sept. 7 raised $4,800 in sales and donations to be spent on furniture for affordable housing for homeless and disabled veterans built at Camp Shanks in Tappan, NY.
Members of the Tappan Zee High School band, wrestling and track teams joined with the Orangetown Mighty Midgets to help set up for the sale. Tappan Zee's lacrosse team donated packages of good for all eight Homes for Heroes apartments and the football team helped take things own at the end of the day.
Many local officials also took attended the event.
"It was a successful day," Orangetown Councilman Denis Troy said. "The community really came out to support the project."
