Hundreds Gather to Kick Cancer

The Jason Krause Kick Cancer Scholarship fundraiser at  drew the largest crowd yet to Kennelly's Grill House in Congers Saturday, with over 350 people attending.

The event, now in its fourth year, is run by friend and family of Jason Krause of Congers, who died form brain cancer at the age of 33 in 2008. Organizers include Matt Bond, Kris Dougherty, Terence Hudson, John Kruth, Dan Krause and Richard Onativia. 

"God bless each and everyone who attended today's fundraiser," Pat Krause, Jason's mother, wrote on Facebook. "Jason loved and was loved by so many wonderful people. He was blessed and so were we. All is well, Jason. We never gave up!"


They put together an event including Barry the Magician, Jamie's faces, a bouncy castle, an arts and crafts table and new addition Outragehiss....Pets, which brought animals ranging from a rabbit to a 180-pound Burmese Python.

Sports celebrities provide one of the biggest draws annually for the Krause Kick Cancer Fundraiser.  This year, that included former Ne York Yankees David Cone, Jim Leyrtiz, Cecil Fielder and Mickey Rivers, former Met John Franco and retired boxer Gerry Cooney.
