Grace Lee, Retired Teacher

Grace Devoy Lee, 88, of Pearl River, NY entered eternal life with her Lord on May 2, 2014.

Grace was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 8, 1925 to Harold and Loretta Devoy. Grace graduated from Fontbonne Hall and St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn. She worked for Loeser’s Department Store in Brooklyn before marrying her husband William H. Lee in December 1950. Grace later returned to school and earned a Masters Degree in Education from Hofstra University. She was an elementary school teacher in the Elwood School District on Long Island for 23 years before retiring in 1988. She lived in Westbury and Hicksville, New York; Mount Pocono, PA, and The Woodlands, TX before settling in Pearl River.

Grace is survived by her children William and wife April of Virginia Beach, VA; Harry and wife Karen of The Woodlands, TX; Charles and wife Ellen of Garden City, NY; and Joan Lee Van Hise of New City, NY. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren: Ryan, Kelly, Terry, Meghan, Raymond, Brendan, Chris, Kathleen, Charlie, and Danny.

A Funeral Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Pearl River. The Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc. in Pearl River handled the arrangements. 

The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Promenade in Blue Hill and Grace's aides for the tenderness and care that they shared with Grace.
