Pearl River Student Thomas Scognamiglio Passes Away

The Pearl River community was saddened by the passing of Thomas Scognamiglio, 16, Wednesday after a long battle with Osteosarcoma.

Pearl River High School junior Thomas Scognamiglio, 16, passed away Wednesday after a long battle with Osteosarcoma, a cancerous bone tumor.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River.

The family will receive friends and family Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m at Wyman-Fisher. The funeral mass is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Catharine of Alexandria Church in Blauvelt, wiht the burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetary in Nanuet. 

Scognamiglio is survived by his parents, Joseph and Alysson, older brother Patrick and sisters Christa, Marissa and Lauren Rose. The full obituary information on Wyman-Fisher's website can be found here

The family asked that donations be made in Scognamiglio's name to Memorial Sloan Kettering Osteosarcoma Research at 663 Third Avenue, 28th Foor, New York, NY 10017 rather than sending flowers. 

Pearl River athletic events were cancelled in light of the news of Scognamiglio's passing.
