Two Pearl River Residents Pass Away

A roundup of local residents' obituaries.

A few local residents died over the weekend, and so now we look back at their lives:

Michael J. Casey, February 2, 1933 - September 28, 2012: Michael J. Casey of Pearl River, NY, a resident for 35 years, died Friday, September 28, 2012 at Nyack Hospital. He was 79. Mr. Casey was a Lieutenant in the New York City Police Department before retiring in 1993 after 32 years of service. He served in the Central Park Precinct. Michael was born February 2, 1933 in New York, NY to Timothy and Mary Breen Casey of County Kerry, Ireland. He graduated from John Jay with a Bachelors degree in Police Science and Farleigh Dickinson with Bachelors degree in Business Management. Michael served in the US Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953 and served in the Korean War.

Ethel Doller, June 9, 1926 - September 28, 2012: Ethel T. Doller of Pearl River, NY passed away Friday, September 28, 2012, at Hackensack University Hospital in Hackensack, NJ. She was 86. Ethel was born in Brooklyn, NY to Edward and Margaret Doller. The family moved to Nyack, NY in 1927. Ethel was a lifelong Rockland County resident. In the past year, she became an official “Snowbird” and spent time living in Florida with family. Ethel was a graduate of Nyack HS. She graduated from the Wood School in New York City and was an executive secretary with Universal Atlas Cement, US Steel Corporation, for thirty-one years until her retirement. Ethel was dedicated to bowling in Rockland County.

Margaret Ryan Malloy, June 24, 1920 - September 26, 2012: Margaret Ryan Malloy, 92 years old, of New City, NY passed away on September 26, 2012. She was born on June 24, 1920 to Leslie Ryan & Agnes (Gannon). Margaret received all her sacraments, with the exception of baptism, at St. Anthony's Church. She was an avid photographer, was active in her community, enjoyed spending time with her friends at the New City Park Lake and volunteered with The Rockland Historical Society.
