'It's Heartening to See More Women in Congress'

The election, the Bedford Post Inn, and Twinkies were just some of the topics lighting up the message boards last week.

Gere's Bedford Post Inn Moves to Expand Parking Lot

"Let's be honest, we're talking about a small percentage of wealthy residents who utilize the horse trails. Why should local businesses be forced to accommodate a small, elite group of individuals who *might* travel by horse when they *can* accommodate those who come by car? These hitching posts will limit the number of parking spaces. I can't recall the last time I was held up in horse traffic. I would love to know what local communities require hitching posts for restaurants." -- Ruthie

... and ...

"I think a larger parking lot makes sense and will make it safer for patrons, especially in the evening hours." -- Laura Beth Kerr Gilman

Women Cracking the Glass Ceiling

"Sure, can't trust men. No way. Not when it comes to education ... they're all neanderthals. Debt? Men are addicted to debt. They love it. It's genetic. Forget the environment ... they spend their free hours cutting trees down to size and tossing' garbage out the window as they drive. Same goes for health care ... everyone should just buck up, right? I was happy for the family comment, too. Men can't stand women ... or children. Just pawns. Good for using. I'm looking forward to our ladies-only armed forces confronting all the world maniacs. I'm sure they'll just settle 'em all down with a soft talk. Happens all the time. Men? What are they good for anyway? I bet I sound stupid. It's a guy thing. Sorry." -- Aidan

... and ...

"It is heartening to see more women in Congress. Maybe they will do a better job than the men who are usually more interested in holding onto power than getting things done. I hope the women will be able to focus on real issues that help families. You know, "women's issues" like health care, education, the national debt, taxes, the environment and immigration. Maybe women will be able to look beyond the next election cycle and find long term solutions. The men usually can't." -- Maggie

Peekskill Students Hand Deliver Cards to Montrose Vets

"There is nothing that brings more joy to nursing home residents than visits from young folks. Congratulations to all those who coordinated and participated in this heartwarming event. I'm sure the kids left with proud hearts from such valuable lessons learned. What a loving initiative to make the trip to honor the Veteran's and spend time with them. Nice job Peekskill City School District! Thanks to Laura Belfiore for covering this.....this is the kind of stuff the community doesn't hear alot about." -- Leslie Lawler

Con Ed Westchester Restorations Nearly Complete

"I think it might be time to start sticking everything underground." -- Dave Gammon

"Ding-Dongs were the Best!!! And, of course.....Wonder Bread---- "helps built strong bodies, eight ways"--- when I was a kid! I think with additives, they increased that to "twelve ways" in later years! perhaps Hostess will be able to sell the products names and recipes!" -- JohnJ22

Describe the Village in One Word

"American hope for all." -- BEATRICE JACOBSEN

This is indeed a silly thread.

In all my life, I never thought women would act like walking V's. They walked the V's all the way to the voting booth and forgot about their wallets. I voted my wallet because my brain is bigger than my V.
