The sport once known as America's Pastime will begin the 2012 season in Japan.
The Seattle Mariners will play the Oakland Athletics at 6:10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time Wednesday morning in the opening game of the Major League Baseball season in the Tokyo Dome.
MLB also opened its season in the Tokyo Dome in 2008. Teams have been opening their seasons with international games since 1999, the past tradition of opening games in Cincinnati becoming a thing of the past.
