Should Pearl River Schools Include Santa Claus in Classroom?

A Nanuet teacher stirred controversy by spilling the beans about Santa Claus last week. Pearl River's policy allowed for some discussion of the jolly Christmas icon.

Last week, a parent complained that a teacher at Miller Elementary school spilled the beans about Santa Claus.

We won't spoil the big secret here, but Patch did inquire about the Pearl River School District's policy regarding discussions of Santa Claus in the classroom.

"Santa may be included in lessons teachers deliver on holiday traditions and customs," Pearl River School District Director of Community Relations Sandra Cokeley wrote in an email. "Any sensitive questions are referred back to the child’s family."
