West Nyack man involved in accident, 4 others stopped for erratic driving.

A West Nyack man was charged with drunken driving after an accident in a West Nyack shopping center, according to Clarkstown police.

Thomas Hartl, 56, was arrested after town police investigated a report of a 2012 Nissan hitting another car as it backed out of parking space at the Clarksville Corner shopping center center on West Nyack Road at about 4:40 p.m. Monday.

Police said Hartl appeared intoxicated when they questioned him and he then failed a field sobriety test. Hartl was taken to Clarkstown police headquarters in New City, where police said he failed a chemical breath test for alcohol.

Hartl was later released pending a May 21 hearing in Clarkstown Town Court in New City.

— A Congers woman was charged with drunken driving after she was seen driving erratically in Nanuet, according to the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department.

Maria Garrido, 46, was stopped 12:35 a.m. on May 2 on North Middletown Road and found to be intoxicated, police said. She was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and later released pending a hearing in Clarkstown Town Court in New City today.

Christopher Daqui, 21, was stopped on Broadway in Nyack at 4:38 a.m. on Sunday and was found to be intoxicated, police said. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and later released pending a May 17 hearing in Nyack Village Court.

— Two Garnerville man were charged with drunken driving after they were seen driving erratically in separate incidents in Garnerville, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Manuel Vasquez, 47, of Garnerville was stopped on Route 202 at 1:44 a.m. Sunday and was found to be intoxicated, police said. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and was later released pending a hearing on May 22 in West Haverstraw Village Court.

At 1:28 a.m. on Sunday, Nicholas Viohl, 22, of Garnerville, was stopped on Route 202 after he was seen driving erratically, police said. Viohl was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and later released pending a May 22 hearing in West Haverstraw Village Court.
