Former Pearl River Resident Convicted of Child Porn Possession

Former Pearl River resident Ashley Quiroa, 33, of Waldwick, NJ was convicted on two counts of Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child, class E felonies.

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe announced the jury trial conviction Wednesday in relation to an investigation that began in June 2010. At that time, New York State Police informed the Computer Crimes Task Force at the Rockland County Sheriff's Department that it had traced the viewing of child pornography to an IP address in Pearl River.

According to the DA's office, when interviewed by detectives Oct. 14, 2010, Quiroa admitted to downloading videos of children being sexually abused on his notebook computer. Quiroa is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 11, 2014, when he could get up to four years in state prison. When he is released, he will have to register under the Sex Offender Registration Act.
