Found Asleep on the Sprain, Arrested on Drug Charges

State police went to check the welfare of a driver whose car was stopped but running on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Yonkers at 3:30 a.m. March 17.

Police said they found Victor Kapiti of Pearl River asleep behind the wheel.
Two crack pipes, a snorting straw, .6 grams of crack-cocaine, and $1,808.50 (not including a 10 ounce silver bar) were recovered from Kapiti and his vehicle, police said.

Kapiti was interviewed by a Drug Recognition Expert and determined to be impaired, police said.

He was processed at State Police headquarters in Hawthorne on three charges: Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree and 7th Degree, and driving while ability impaired by drugs. He was arraigned in the City of Yonkers Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail.
