Man Frightens Girls in Pearl River: Police Blotter

Orangetown police report a disturbing event Sunday morning:

The Orangetown Police Dept. is investigating a suspicious incident that occurred this morning at 5:53 a.m. on Ehrhardt Road in Pearl River near Saint Aedan’s Church.

Two 16-year-old girls were riding bicycles south on Ehrhardt Road en route to a bagel store in Pearl River to purchase bagels for one of the girl’s mothers for Mother’s Day.

They noticed a man walking or jogging in the middle of the roadway. As the girls were riding past the man he yelled to them an inappropriate question of a sexual nature.

The girls did not respond and continued biking. When the girls were on Pearce Parkway approaching North Middletown Road they realized that the man was now following them in a mid-sized green SUV with unknown NY white license plates.

The girls became alarmed and rode their bicycles to a store on North Middletown Road. The girls stated that the man waved to them as he passed by on North Middletown Road but he did not attempt any further contact. The girls took refuge in the store and called the Police.

The man is described as
white/mid 30’s/with black hair/5’10” to 6’2”/slim build wearing a plain white T-shirt, grey running shorts and sneakers.

Anybody having any
information about this incident is asked to call the Orangetown Police at 845-359-3700.
