(UPDATE) Police: New City Man Charged in Telephone Threat to Cops

Edward Tabaracci arrested at home after series of calls to Clarkstown Police.

Clarkstown Police Department reported the arrest of Edward Tabaracci of New City at 6:20 p.m. Thursday for a telephone threat against police officers.

Police charged him with making a terroristic threat, a felony, and aggravated harassment 2nd degree, a misdemeanor.

Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni said the 51-year-old placed several calls to the department’s non- emergency number.

“Tabaracci grew increasingly hostile with each phone call,” she said.  “In the final call, Tabaracci stated, ‘This is not a warning this is a promise.  Two officers will die in the next 24 hours’.”

Tabaracci called a non-emergency number at the Police Department at least three times on Thursday afternoon prior to his arrest.  Tabaracci’s first call around 4:30 p.m. was a complaint about a traffic problem on Strawtown Road.  He placed a second call about 19 minutes later followed by the third threatening call at 5:22 p.m.

Tabaracci was arrested at his residence without incident. He is awaiting arraignment in Clarkstown Justice Court.

Police report he has a criminal history dating back to 1981 and with arrests for patronizing a prostitute and numerous driving while intoxicated charges.

This is the second arrest of a Clarkstown resident for making terroristic threats in less than two months.

That is what is so great about the Patch and newspaper comment sections in general - the ability to stay focused and on topic! Way to go.
