New City Mother, Son Arrested by Ramapo Police

Vikas Jagota of New City was arrested for assault, endangering a child and criminal mischief and his mother, Parveen Jagota, was charged with criminal mischief multiple incidents.

Ramapo Police arrested a mother and son in relation to reports by a 32-year-old woman, whose name is being withheld, that she was a victim of crimes committed by family members.

During one incident, Vikas Jagota, 36, of New City allegedly forced the victim's hand through the glass door of a cabinet, struck a 3-year-old child and prevented the victim from calling police. 

Jagota was charged with assault in the second degree, criminal mischief in the fourth degree and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned in the Town of Ramapo Justice Court and remanded to Rockland County Jail.

Jagota's mother, 59-year-old Parveen Jagota of New City, reportedly prevented the alleged victim from calling police on another occasion. She was arrested and charged with criminal mischief in the foruth degree. Parveen Jagota was released after posting $3,500 bail.
