New Jersey Man Charged with Rape in Relation to Incident Sunday in Sloatsburg

Ramapo Police announced that Mitchell Gerber of Clifton, NJ was charged with rape in relation to an incident in Sloatsburg.

The Ramapo Police Department Detective Bureau announced Tuesday that Mitchell Gerber, 46, of New Jersey is facing rape and other charges in relation to an incident Sunday.

Ramapo Detectives investigated a report that Gerber attacked a victim with whom he had a past relationship at a home in Sloatsburg. There victim had a valid Stay-Away-Order of Protection against Gerber. The victim was treated at Good Samaritan Hospital for injuries suffered during the attack.

Gerber was arrested in Westchester County at approximately 10 a.m. Monday and arraigned before Sloatsburg Judge Thomas Newman. He has been remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Center on $250,000 bail.

The charges against Gerber are:

  • Rape in the first degree (two counts), Class B felonies
  • Criminal sexual act in the first degree, a Calss B felony
  • Sexual Abuse in the first degree, a Class D felony
  • Criminal Contempt in the first degree, a Class E felony
