None Hurt in Attic Fire in Pearl River Home

Neighbors called in a fire in the second-story attic of a house on S. Main Street in Pearl River Friday afternoon. The house is uninhabitable due to smoke and water damage.

Volunteers from Pearl River Hook and Ladder and Excelsior Fire Engine Company responded to a fire in the second-story attic of a home on S. Main Street in Pearl River Friday.

The was reported by a neighbor at approximately 3:50 p.m., but the house suffered significant damage and is currently uninhabitable.

"It was the middle of the day, so we always call in extra help so we are sure to have enough bodies," said Pearl River Assistant Fire Chief Dave O'Brien. "The fire was pretty limited to the attic on the second floor of the house, but there is water and smoke damage throughout the entire house.

"There were no injuries. It was a typical, single-family residential fire."

Volunteers from the Nanuet, South Spring Valley and Orangeburg Fire Departments also came to the scene and Blauvelt fire fighters were on standby to cover for any other calls in Pearl River. The Pearl River and Nanuet Ambulane Corps also responded, with South Orangetown on standby.

No cause for the fire has been determined yet.
