O&R Conducting Emergency Drill On State Line Thursday

Orange & Rockland Utilities, Inc and local emergency services will conduct an emergency response training exercise from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday on Route 304 near the New York/New Jersey state line.

The drill is expected to create a minimal impact on traffic because most of it wil take place on the property around O&R's substation in Montvale, NJ. The number of uniformed emergency responders is also expected to be limited with the drill focused on communications and command.

Orangetown Police and the Pearl River Fired Department are expected to participate along with Montvale police and fire departments and local EMS organizations.

The drill will focus on response and restoration in the instance of damage to both gas and electrical equipment near train tracks. All related activity is expected to be completed by noon.
