Orangetown Police Arrest Pearl River Man For Identity Theft

Orangetown Police Arrested Richard Hobencamp, 34, of Pearl River Friday and charged him with forgery and identity theft.

Hobencamp, who lives at 38 Granny Court in Pearl River, is accused of purchasing items at various stores in Pearl River using a stolen credit card, including Jan. 10, 2014 at the CVS in Pearl River. He did claim to be the owner of the credit card as he made purchases of approximately $748. He faces formal charges of second degree forgery, second degree identity theft, fourth degree possession of stolen property and petit theft. 

Anthony Sutherland, 34, of ONanuet was with Hobencamp at the time of his arrest. He had a warrant pending with New York State Police for drug possession and illegal possession of a hypodermic needle. Orangetown Police arrested Sutherland and turned him over to State Police.
