Pearl River Man Charged with Heroin Possession

Police called to Pearl River store because man refused to leave.

A Pearl River man who refused to leave a Pearl River store was charged with heroin possession after police found in him the store's bathroom, according to Orangetown Police.

Anthony D'Antico, 32, of 352 Blauvelt Road, Pearl River, is charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance in connection with the 11:43 p.m. incident on Wednesday at the CVS Pharmacy, 75 N. Middletown Road.

Police said store employees had asked D'Antico to leave the store and they called police when he went into the store's bathroom. Police said town officers found D'Antico on the floor of the bathroom adjusting his right sock.

At that time, police said, several small envelopes fell out of his sock, including one that contained what is believed to be heroin. D'Antico was arrested and taken to Orangetown Police Headquarters in Orangeburg, where police said a search found another envelope with a substanced believed to be heroin in D'Antico's clothing.

D'Antico was taken to Nyack Hospital for treatment of an unrelated prior injury, police said. He was released by police pending an April 24 hearing in Orangetown Town Court.
