The sign by the entrance to the Pearl River School District Administrative Offices on Crooked Hill Road was stolen earlier this week.
District administrators discovered that the sign was missing Monday morning. The poles supporting the sign and the lights attached to them were left behind.
"We were very disappointed to discover that our new sign was taken last weekend," Pearl River Director of Human Resources and Community Services Diana Musich said. "The sign was put up in January after the district offices moved to our new location at a cost of about $2800. We filed a report with Orangetown PD on Monday morning.
"We received feedback from a number of community members expressing their embarrassment and anger that this occurred in our community."
