Police Arrest 9 Pearl River Teens

Palisades Interstate Parkway Police arrested nine teenagers from Pearl River early Thursday morning, saying they had alcohol and drugs in their possession.

The five adults and four juveniles were charged with Possession of Underage Alcohol, Possession of Marijuana (under 50), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Creating a Hazardous Condition.

Five of the teenagers are members of the Pearl River High School Class of 2013. which held its graduation ceremony Thursday evening. Pearl River School District officials would not comment on the incident, saying they did not have any official information at the time of the ceremony. 

Palisades Parkway Police Officer Joseph Villone found the teens at approximately 2 a.m. Thursday morning during a routine check of the Rockefeller Lookout, which is located along the northbound lanes of the Palisades Parkway in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. He saw what he suspected to be Marijuana in plain view in an unoccupied vehicle.

Villone investigated the area, finding the teenagers at the cliff's edge beyond the wall. According to the police report, he observed alcohol, suspected Marijuana and a Marijuana "bong." Each of the teens admitted partial ownership of the materials. They said they were celebrating graduation. At that point, all nine were arrested.
