Theft Charged At Mall Store

A White Plains man is accused of shoplifting $763 worth of perfumes from a store at the Palisades Center mall in West Nyack and using a bag designed to defeat store security systems, according to police.

Police in the Clarkstown said Herlido DelRosario, 25, is accused of petty larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of an anti-security device in connection with a 6:30 p.m. incident Thursday at the Sephora store at the mall.

Police said DelRosario was taking items from the store using a foil-lined bag, known as a "booster bag," to get past security devices. DelRosario was released pending an Aug. 22 hearing in Clarkstown Town Court in New City.

3 Years In Prison For Gun Found During Raid

Carlos Salgado, 47, of 96 Fairview Ave., Spring Valley, has been sentenced by state Supreme Court Judge William A. Kelly to a state prison term of three years after pleading guilty to second-degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon.

District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe said that on Dec. 22, 2010, the Spring Valley Police Department Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at Salgado’s residence. While searching the basement apartment where he lived, the officers found a .380 caliber semi automatic handgun in the closet along with a pill bottle containing 9 .380 caliber bullets.

Salgado was also sentenced to three years probation after he is released from prison.
