Police Identify Pearl River Motorcycle Crash Victim

Orangetown police have confirmed that 44-year-old Peter Fitzpatrick of Pearl River, an educator, was the man killed in a motorcycle accident Monday afternoon on Veteran's Memorial Drive near the Pearl River Hilton.

East Ramapo Central School District officials confirmed that Fitzpatrick was a dean and teacher of physics at Ramapo High School.

Police also identified the driver of the vehicle Fitzpatrick's motorcycle collided with as Patrique Bigord, 52, of Spring Valley. No charges have been filed in the incident and the investigation is ongoing.

Orangetown police are seeking witnesses to the crash who may be able to  assist the investigation. If you have information about the accident, call 845-359-3700.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. Monday. Fitzpatrick was taken by the Pearl River Ambulance Corps to Nyack Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Fitzpatrick was married with two young children.

"I’m sure we all know by this time of the tragic loss of one of our parents, Mr. Fitzpatrick, in that tragic motorcycle accident on Veteran’s," said Pearl River Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank Auriemma at Tuesday's board of education meeting. "He leaves behind his wife and two young children at Franklin Avenue (Elementary), a first and second grader. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family."

The wake will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in the auditorium at St. Margaret's Church in Pearl River. The funeral mass is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Margaret's.
