Police: Two Hospitalized After Airmont Accident

Ramapo Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 59 in Airmont Sunday afternoon.

Three vehicles were involved in an accident outside Tall Pines Industrial Park on Route 59 in Airmont Sunday afternoon.

Ramapo Police responded to a call about an accident with a rollover at 1:28 p.m. According to police, Yisroel Gertner of Monsey pulled his 2010 Honda Civic out of Tall Pans Industrial Park and hit a 2011 Nissan Altima which had been traveling west on Route 59. The Altima then sideswiped a 1998 Infinity I30 operated by 67-year-old Edward Berkowitz, which had been going eastbound. Witnesses said the Altima rolled over twice before stopping in front of Colonial Square in Airmont.

Hatzolah Ambulance took both the male operator and female passenger from the Altima to Westchester Medical Center. Their injuries were not considered life threatening.

Berkowitz was treated for minor cuts at the scene and Gertner was not injured. Gertner was issued a traffic ticket for failure to yield while entering a roadway. Police report that their investigation of the accident is ongoing.
