Ramapo Police Arrest Man on Murder Charge After Finding Woman He Lived With Dead

UPDATED: Ramapo Police identified the female victim who died early this morning at 171 Grandview Ave. in Wesley Hills this morning as Cecile M. Garbarino. Riad Dib, 66, who had lived with her, was arrested on charges including murder.

Update at 3:30 p.m.

Murder suspect Riad Dib was arraigned in Town of Ramapo Justice Court this afternoon and remanded to Rockland County Jail without bail.

Ramapo Police released the names of the woman who died at 171 Grandview Ave. in Wesley Hills this morning and the man they arrested on a murder charge.

The victim is Cecile M. Garbarino, 68, who was declared dead shortly after police arrived at 12:45 a.m. Friday morning. The male they arrested is Riad Dib, 66, who also lived at the addressed. The two were not married. 

12:40 p.m.

Ramapo Police found a 68-year-old woman unconcious after responding to a 911 call about an assault at her Grandview Ave. home in Wesley Hills early Friday morning.

Rockland Paramedics pronounced her dead at 1 a.m.

Police arrested a 66-year-old man who was on the scene on charges including 2nd degree murder. The suspect and victim were not married, but they lived together. Police are withholding both names until they notify the victim's next of kin. 

The investigation is ongoing.
