Ramapo Police Investigating Sunday Night Homicide

According to Ramapo Police, Riccardo Bennett, 22, of Spring Valley died from a stab wound to the chest Sunday night.

Police responded to a report of a fight and possible gunshots at 6 East Hickory Street in the HIllcrest section of town at approximately 8:20 p.m. and found Barrett with a wound to the chest. Rockland Paramedics and Spring Hill Ambulance Corps treated him at the scene. Spring Hill Ambulance took him to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead by emergency room doctors. Police initially reported that Bennett had been shot, but the medical examiner determined that he had been stabbed in the chest. 

Police report that it appears Barrett got into a verbal and physical altercation with a black male on the street and the other man pulled a hand gun. The suspect is being described as 5-foot-9 with a medium complexion and black hair which is braided. When last seen, he was wearing a black hat, black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. 

Ramapo Police are currently looking for Otha Williams, 20, of the Bronx as a person of interest.

Rockland County BCI and the Rockland County Medical Examiner's Office are working with the Ramapo Police Investigations division on the case. Anyone with information should call Ramapo Police at (845) 357-2400.
