Rockland Court Report: Burglary Sentencing; Assault, Drug Indictments

The Rockland County District Attorney's Office announced the following sentencing on a burglary charge and indictments for assault and drug possession.

  • James Anis, 25, of Haverstraw was sentenced to a state prison term of five years and three years supervision after his release after pleading guilty to Burglary in the First Degree. According to District Attorney Thomas Zugibe, Anis illegally entered a home in Ramapo March 7, 2013 and caused physical injury to two of the residents and to a police officer carrying out his duty.
  • Andre Beauford, 35, of Newburgh was indicted for Assault in the Second Degree. According to Zugibe, on June 1, 2013 while incarcerated in Rockland County Jail, Beauford struck another inmate in the face repeatedly with his fist, causing injuries including facial fractures, a broken nose and bleeding. The victim required surgery to repair the facial fractures.
  • Jamel Young, 41, of Haverstraw was indicted for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. Zugibe said that Young was found Nov. 14, 2013 possessing one and a half ounces of cocaine, numerous plastic bags, a scale and a small amount of marijuana.
