Sparkill Accident Injures 4

The Orangetown Police Dept. Accident Investigation Team is investigating a serious motor vehicle accident that occurred near 420 Route 9W in the early afternoon March 16.

Police said a red 2011 Nissan Rogue operated by a 60-year-old Nyack man 
collided head-on with a grey 2013 Ford Transit Courier Van operated 
by a 65-year-old River Edge, NJ man.

Both vehicles were demolished and four people were injured, including both 
drivers and the female passengers in each vehicle.

Investigators are working on determining a cause of the accident at this time.

Fire departments from Sparkill and Tappan responded and both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles. Additionally, ambulances from 
South Orangetown Ambulance Corps, Piermont and Rockland Paramedics 
responded and treated and transported the victims to Nyack Hospital.
