Carlucci Calls Out Tappan Zee Bridge Toll Evaders

With President Barack Obama's visit putting a spotlight on the need to repair the country's bridges, State Sen. David Carlucci points out one way to help pay for the work.

"The President's visit to Westchester today puts infrastructure spending and the Tappan Zee Bridge in the national spotlight. We need to work with the President to make sure Congress acts and addresses the shortfall in the Highway Trust Fund while working on innovative ways to save money on a State level," said Carlucci (D-Westchester/Rockland) in a press release.

"Passing penalties for chronic toll evaders is a common sense approach that will save millions of dollars annually," he said. "It is outrageous that when the President speaks later this afternoon, right behind his back, toll evaders will steal $5,000 alone on the Tappan Zee Bridge and $82,000 throughout the State."
