County GOP Leader Coordinates Mitt Romney’s Lower Hudson Valley Campaign

Vincent Reda says volunteers will be heading to New Hampshire for its primary

Rockland County Republican Committee Chairman Vincent Reda said campaign work for the Presidential candidacy of Mitt Romney is well underway in New York.

“We are preparing all the groundwork for the campaign,” said Reda, who was one of four or five initial Romney campaign workers in the state.

He and other organizers are gathering several hundred volunteers to go to New Hampshire this weekend to make phone calls and hand out literature.  Reda went to Albany for meetings yesterday and today to work with other campaign organizers to coordinate the effort.

The victory in the Iowa Caucus was a positive step for the former Massachusetts governor, according to Reda.

“I’m absolutely delighted that Mitt Romney won,” he said. “Of course, we know a couple of weeks ago he was supposed to lose in Iowa.”

Romney’s margin of victory in Iowa was slim. He bested Rick Santorum by eight ballots; both of them received 25 percent of the vote.  Reda expects Romney to be the front-runner in the New Hampshire Republican primary on January 10.

The Romney campaign is a scenario Reda is familiar with.

“I supported him four years ago and unfortunately he didn’t get the nomination,” said Reda.

He said support is strong in for Romney, who has been endorsed by Republican state senate and assembly members and local elected officials including the county executive and legislators.

“I think he is doing very well in our county,” said Reda.

Romney’s mixed background as an elected official and businessman makes for a good combination according to Reda.  He said Romney served one term as Massachusetts' governor and created 800,000 jobs and then returned to private industry.

“I think he’s exactly what the country needs,” said Reda. “I think his electability goes with his background in turning companies around.”

New York’s primary is tentatively scheduled for April 24.  The date has to be approved by the state senate. Reda anticipates the GOP presidential candidate could be determined way before then.

While I am in complete agreement with every single comment that has been made here so far, I want to call attention to something a whole lot more serious. This news post is proof positive that elections are no longer controlled by citizen voters (and haven't been for some time). It is THE PEOPLE'S choice, not the political machine's, who should receive a party's official nomination. This is nothing more than a blatant, in your face example of how the machine makes the choice and then puts all its money and power into disenfranchising us citizens. If Romney is the people's choice, so be it. The fact, however, is that the vast majority of registered Republicans prefer other choices to him. If that wasn't the case, Romney would have poll numbers well above what he does. Knowing this, and seeing how he is being rammed at us regardless, makes me that much more suspicious of him and the whole process. But beyond that, this fraud goes on in ALL of the parties. REGARDLESS of citizens' party affiliations, if we all don't WAKE UP AND STOP THIS ACTIVITY, WE ARE GOING TO LOSE OUR COUNTRY FOR GOOD.

Considering that our system is SUPPOSED to be bottom up, NOT top down, can anyone explain to me why NOT A SINGLE COMMITTEE MEMBER was involved in this decision? This was a typical, business-as-usual "executive decision" made among the Chairs of each county. I repeat: this matter WAS NEVER BROUGHT BEFORE THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. WAKE THE HELL UP, PEOPLE!

In recent news Vincet Reda lies to the people of his district and sends out a audio recording claiming Mitt Romney was the only person in the race but still go out and vote for him. Blantent lie because the educated know that Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul ate also running against him. Also related, the "send mail to" section of the Rockland County website will not take emails stating that the "link has been removed" My message to the officials running the website (that can't be submitted because they are not accepting comments) Sir/Ma'am, I was interested in when Vincent Reda was going to make a statement on the fraudulent recording that went out to registered republicans in regard to rallying behind Mitt Romney and that he is the only one currently running for the nomination? The reason most people feel like the statement has to be addressed is because it was a blantent lie being that Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich are still in the race for the Republican Nomination. The fact that the Representative for this district was so careless or malicious in swaying the public speaks louder then anyone can scream. I just want to make it clear people are watching and this type of tyranny will end. You can not lie to the people forever.

How can anyone do anything especially if they have a nice cushy job in government! If they do not vote the way they are told then out they go! wow that's really fair! This is especially evident in the conservative party its do as you are told or your gone!! maybe someone should investigate those powers to be who make these rulings and give them a taste of the legal system! Lets see how conservative they will be then!
