Legislators Honor Tappan Fire Captain

Rockland County Legislator John Murphy and Chairwoman Harriet Cornell recognized Tappan Fire Captain Wayne Werner with a Distinguished Service Award for saving the life of a fellow firefighter.

Rockland County Chairwoman Harriet Cornell and Legislator John Murphy recently recognized the life-saving actions of Tappan Fire Captain Wayne Werner with a Distinguished Service Award.

Cornell also gave Werner a certificate on behalf of County Executive Scott Vanderhoef. 

According to Tappan Fire Chief Michael Healy, Werner performed CPR on a firefighter who was not breathing. The firefighter fully recovered after treatment at two hospitals, including surgery. Doctors said that hte firefighter would not have survived without Werner performing CPR quickly.
