Masonic Park to Open for Orangetown Summer Camp

The Masonic Park in Tappan will be available for Orangetown's summer recreation program.

Earlier this week, management of the Masonic Park in Tappan confirmed that it was putting all upcoming events on hold.

That led concerned residents and representatives of local groups to voice their displeasure at Tuesday's town board meeting.

Orangetown Supervisor Andy Stewart received a letter Friday confirming that Orangetown's summer recreation program will be able to use the facility. Orangetown has been able to use the venue for free.

"I am relieved and thrilled that our efforts have borne fruit and the Masonic campground will be open to the town's summer camp," Stewart said. "I have personally thanked the Masons and I have encouraged them to open their wonderful facility to other events and programs that mean so much for Orangetown residents. My understanding is the Masons are meeting soon to discuss their plans."
