Murphy Honors South Orangetown Little League Team

Legislator John Murphy (R-Pearl River) honored the South Orangetown Little League 9-to-10-year-old Softball team before Tuesday's meeting of the Rockland County Legislature.

Legislator Connie Coker and Chairwoman Harriet Cornell joined Legislator John Murphy in honoring the South Orangetown Little League 9-10-year-old Softball team before Tuesday's meeting of the Rockland County Legislature.

They presented certificates of achievement to the players, coaches and manager of the team, which won a 2011 New York State Championship in their age division.

"These young ladies have a lot to be proud of," Murphy said. "They accomplished a great athletic feat, a New York State championship. Despite the immense pressure, they kept their cool, worked cooperatively and supported one another through all the ups and downs of the season. This was a very positive and exciting experience for them and a source of pride for all the residents of Orangetown."
