Orangetown Addressing Police Staffing

The Orangetown Council approved the appointment of Keith E. Trojan and Thoams D. Roeder as Orrangetown Police Officers during the town board meeting Tuesday in Orangetown Town Hall. 

Both were nominated for hte positions at Orangetown's Dec. 17, 2013 meeting. The appointments are temporary as the two officers will attend the Rockland County Police and Public Safety Academy.

Orangetown Supervisor Andy Stewart also announced that three recipients of promotions within the Orangetown Police Department  will be recognized during the town council meeting Feb. 4, one moving up from sergeant to lieutenant and two moving up from officer to sergeant.

The Orangetown Council met with Orangetown Police Chief Kevin Nulty in executive session Tuesday to further discuss staffing plans for the department.

The meeting next week will begin with the Orangetown Youth Court graduation, which begins at 7 p.m. 

Among other items related to the Orangetown Police Department Tuesday:

  • The town council approved Orangetown Police Sgt. James Sullivan's attendance at the 35th Annual Hostage Negotiations Seminar, which is sponsored by the Baltimore County Police & Federal Bureau of Investigations Feb. 11 and Feb. 12 in Baltimore, MD. His tuition and lodging will be paid for by the Rockland County Regional Entry and Counter Terrorism Team (REACT). 
  • The updated Orangetown Police Department';s General Orders Manual was filed with the town clerk.
