Orangetown Board Addresses Disciplinary Matters

The Orangetown Council voted to terminate the employment of a laborer who had been hire in January and to hire a hearing officer for a separate disciplinary matter with another town employee.

The Orangetown Town Council voted for resolutions regarding separate disciplinary matters at Tuesday's town workshop.

The board voted 3-0 to revoke the Resolution 64 hiring John Ganssle of Nanuet as a laborer, effectively terminating his employment by the town, due to a "material misrepresentation" on his application for employment. Ganssle had been hired in January of this year.

Though Ganssle's employment was terminated due to the issue with his application, he has had other troubles of late. He was among 40 people facing drug-related charges announced by law enforcement officials Oct. 3.

The vote was only 3-0 because Councilmen Denis Troy and Michael Maturo were absent Tuesday.

The council also voted to appoint Joseph E. Wooley as a hearing officer in a separate disciplinary issue dealing with a different Orangetown employee dated back to Oct. 4. Wooley will conduct a hearing, tell the board if he thinks the employee is guilty or innocent and suggest a penalty if warranted.
