Orangetown Board Prepares Bohovesky Resolution, Masonic Park Agreement

The Orangetown Board will hold a police commission meeting 7 p.m. tonight followed by a workshop session.

The Orangetown Council is working on resolution renewing its support for the family of Paula Bohovesky and calling for the two men convicted of her murder in 1980 to stay in jail.

Richard LaBarbera and Robert McCain were sentenced to 25-years-to-life for second-degree murder. They have each been given parole hearings every two years since 2005 and they are up again this year.

The Orangetown Council's resolution on the matter is part of the agenda for Tuesday's workshop, which begins at 8 p.m. The full agenda and supporting materials are attached to this report.

The council will also consider a letter extending the agreement between Orangetown and the Noble Ninth, Inc. to allow the town's summer day camp program to use the Masonic Park this summer. Early in March, the management of the park said all activities there were on hold, but they later sent a letter to Orangetown Supervisor Andy Stewart letting him know it would be available for the summer camp.

Those items are expected to be on the agenda for a vote at the next regular town board meeting April 9.

Before Tuesday's workshop, there will be a Police Commission meeting at 7 p.m.
