Orangetown Board to Recognize Athletes, Highway Heroes

The Orangetown Highway Department will present its Highway Heroes Awards as part of the town council meeting 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night

The Orangetown Highway Department will hold its 16th Annual Open House Saturday, but some of its best people will be on display tonight.

The department will present its Annual Highway Heroes Awards as part of the Orangetown Town Council meeting 7:30 p.m. tonight at the town hall.

The town board will also recognize outstanding athletic accomplishments at Tappan Zee High School.

The full agenda and supporting materials for Tuesday's meeting are attached to this report. That includes a list of members of town boards and committees who are expected to be appointed or reappointed.

The town council will also vote on a revised meeting calendar for the rest of 2012. Earlier this year, workshops and regular meetings were moved to Thursdays. Starting with last week's workshop, the meetings have been returned to Tuesday nights.

Also on the meeting agenda:

  • Approval for the proposed Route 303/Erie Street redesign meant to improve safety and make the road more attractive.
  • Approval of a licensing agreement to allow Veterans Park Batting & Food Corp to assign its license agreement for the food and beverage concession at Veterans Memorial Park in Orangeburg to Richard Cerdeira.
