Orangetown Closing on 2013 Budget

The Orangetown Town Board will continue its public hearing on the 2013 budget 8 p.m. tonight at town hall and could adopt the budget later in the meeting.

The state deadline for municipal budgets looms just a week away, but the Orangetown Board may not wait that long to adopt its 2013 budget.

The board will continue the with a resolution to adopt the current preliminary budget as the final one on the agenda for the meeting.

The full agenda for the meeting, including amendments that are part of the preliminary budget, is attached to this report.

The Orangetown Board already voted to override the state-mandated two percent tax cap, though the council has continued to work to bring down the tax increase for 2013.

The Town of Clarkstown approved an override and a 6.2% tax increase for 2013 last week.

FEMA staff will be available to the public at Orangetown Town Hall before the meeting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
