Orangetown Closing on 2013 Budget

The Orangetown Town Board will continue its public hearing on the 2013 budget 8 p.m. tonight at town hall and could adopt the budget later in the meeting.

The state deadline for municipal budgets looms just a week away, but the Orangetown Board may not wait that long to adopt its 2013 budget.

The board will continue the with a resolution to adopt the current preliminary budget as the final one on the agenda for the meeting.

The Orangetown Board already voted to override the state-mandated two percent tax cap, though the council has continued to work to bring down the tax increase for 2013.

The Town of Clarkstown approved an override and a 6.2% tax increase for 2013 last week.

FEMA staff will be available to the public at Orangetown Town Hall before the meeting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
