Orangetown Groups Sponsor Drug, Alcohol Discussions

There will be a panel discussion of parent liability in cases of underage drinking tonight at Tappan Zee High School and a seminar on Rockland County's prescription drug problem Wednesday at Orangetown Town Hall.

Four local experts will speak about the prescription drug problem in Rockland County at a seminar 7 p.m. Wednesday at Orangetown Town Hall. 

In addition to their presentations, they will engage in a question and answer session.

  • Jay Flaherty, Drug Enforcement Administration, New York Division, Assistant Special Agent in Charge
  • Chris Roberts,  Drug Enforcement Administration, New York Division, Assistant Special Agent in Charge
  • Dominic Crispino, Supervising Assistant District Attorney, Rockland County
  • Christopher Goldrick, Director of Rockland County Drug Task Force

Event sponsors include First Niagara Bank Foundation, Orangetown Police Department, Orangetown Substance Abuse Committee, Perdue Pharma, Rockland County DA's Office, SOCASA (South Orangetown Community Awareness of Substance Abuse) and Wellcore are sponsoring the event. 

SOCASA and Wellcore also helped put together a panel discussion 7 p.m. tonight at Tappan Zee High School to educate parents on their potential liability in cases of underage drinking.

Orangetown Justice Richard Finning will be on the panel with attorney Brian Condon and Det. Joe Sullivan of the Orangetown Police Dept.
