Orangetown Receiver of Taxes Charged With DWI

Robert Simon of Pearl River was pulled over by Clarkstown police 1:40 a.m. Sunday morning.

Orangetown Receiver of Taxes Robert Simon was charged with drunken driving early Sunday morning after his car was seen moving erratically on Route 9W in Upper Nyack, according to Clarkstown Police.

Simon, a 64-year-old Pearl River resident, was stopped at 1:40 a.m. as he was heading southbound on Route 9W. Police said he failed a field sobriety test in Upper Nyack and a chemical breath test for alcohol at Clarkstown Police headquarters in New City.

Simon was released pending an Jan. 3, 2012, hearing in Clarkstown Town Court in New City on a charge of driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

"It's unfortunate," said Simon. "I was leaving a party and it was an incident that happened. I wish it didn't happen."
