Orangetown Town Board to Hold Hearing for Pearl River Parking Measure

The Orangetown Town Board is considering replacing Town Code Chapter 24 regarding municipal lot parking.

The Orangetown Town Board meeting tonight will include a public hearing regarding the possible change in the town code regarding parking permits in municipal lots within Pearl River.

The proposed change could bring in additional revenue for the town, make better use of the municipal lots in Pearl River and would include provisions for 24/7, overnight, merchant and commuter parking permits.  There are currently commuter and overnight spots.

"The way the law is written now, it could be amended, but it would be too difficult to squeeze this in," said Deputy Town Attorney Rob Magrino. "Much of it repeats what was already there."
