Orangetown Voting on Funding Emergency Services Housing Repairs

The Orangetown Council will vote on a resolution providing $50,000 to the Orangetown Volunteer Emergency Services Coalition to pay for roof repairs to homes on Chief Bill Harris Way at the town board meeting 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at town hall.

The full agenda for the meeting can be found on the Orangetown website here. It includes setting a public hearing for July 9 regarding a local law that would abolish the office of receiver of taxes, folding those responsibilities into the town clerk's office. If approved by the town board, the law would go to a referendum Nov. 5.

The board will also vote on reappointing former Orangetown Supervisor Paul Whalen as chairman of the Orangetown Housing Authority. The item was on a meeting agenda last month before being pushed back for further discussion
