Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland) introduced resolution S.3176, which passed the State Senate Wednesday, proclaiming March 2012 as Irish American Heritage Month in the state of New York.

"For generations, Irish Americans have placed an abiding faith in the same cherished values that their ancestors in Ireland have long held dear to their hearts -- a commitment to family, faith, country and opportunity for all," Carlucci said. "We all stand together as one people, one nation, one state, to declare this month as Irish American Heritage Month."
