"This section of the rail trail is a pearl in the rough," Stewart said. "Across the naition, rail trails are an integral part of local economic development. Here in Blauvelt, the Cohen family has invested in Loui's Ice Cream. Improving this rail trial will help Louie's and other local businesses succeed, while promoting community pride, exercise and environmental awareness."

In addition to his own campaign, Stewart is hoping to put a focus on the under-developed section of the trail from Mountainview Avenue to Louie's.
